The Capital City Economic Development Authority (CCEDA) was established in 1998 by the Connecticut General Assembly with the passage of Public Act 98-179 (Sections 32-600 and 36-602) which also authorized state investments to energize the metro Hartford economy.
CCEDA is a quasi-public authority formed to direct and manage state-supported economic development in and around Hartford, Connecticut's Capital City. It is the recommending agency for the bonding authorizations associated with its development projects.
Since its inception, the Capital City Economic Development Authority has completed and manages specific projects supporting its goal of stimulating Hartford’s economy and enhancing the quality of life for the city residents through business development, training for skilled job opportunities and neighborhood revitalization.
- CCEDA, in partnership with the Office of Policy and Management (OPM), has coordinated the development and construction of various residential and commercial projects such as Rentschler Field, Hartford21, Trumbull on the Park and the Connecticut Convention Center
- Over 1, 000 residents from the greater Hartford region are employed with many of these facilities, but also helped to build the structures as welders, carpenters and electricians through training in the Hartford Funnel Program.
- CCEDA continues to fulfill its mission with retail and residential initiatives underway with Phase I of the Front Stree District Project well underway. Phase I will be comprised of commercial and entertainment and is scheduled to be completed in the summer of 2010. Designs for Phase II, the residential component of the project, are in progress.
